"A Mercedes Offering" is a candid look at growing up in the windswept desert of northern Arizona with an abusive, alcoholic yet curiously charismatic father and a gentle, loving, Schizophrenic mother. Emotionally honest without sentimentalism, poignant, provocative yet filled with fierce humor, "A Mercedes Offering" is ultimately about survival - and the birth, rejection, then rediscovery of one's own faith. It is about how the wounded human spirit can flourish, eventually finding its own sense of meaning in the most unexpected of places.
This book is about my life from around the age of 11 until the present day. I was born in September 1961 and have lived almost all my life in Saudi Arabia. But there is one thing which has dominated my life for the past 20 years and that is my encounter and experience in taking prescription drugs.
